ARTIST BIO
Rod Sutterby lives and works in Ninebanks, near Hexham, Northumberland. He studied Painting and Ceramics at The Bath Academy of Art. Rod has also taught painting and printmaking at Stourbridge School of Art, Design Communication at High Wycombe School of Art and Illustration at Newcastle School of Art.
Many of Rod’s paintings feature the changing seasons and the wild land and seascapes which surround him in his studio in Northumberland. Shifts in colour, shadows and light, both above ground and below water in rivers and the sea, preoccupy him in particular. Works are held in private and corporate collections: Britain, France, Canada, Greece, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, Finland, North America, Sweden.
Rod Sutterby’s award of a Sir Peter Kent, Conservation Book Prize for The Wild Trout - A natural history of an endangered fish is just one manifestation of the quality of his work.
